The “Tail” of Two Doggies

Tonight it is raining. 😮

Tonight all two of the three pups decided that they wanted to go out & play in the rain. 😦 [Note: Only two of the three wanted to go out . . . the third dog looked at the other two like they were crazy when they were begging to go out. 😛]

Tonight is the “tail” of two doggies . . .

One dog stepped outside & immediately regretted it.

The other dog stepped outside & practically refused to come back inside.

Can you guess which is which?

Sunday Funday

Yesterday, Cinder & Mick had their first obedience / pre-sports class!

So many positives . . . only a couple of “not so brilliant” moments, but those were more of the fault of one of their humans. 😮

Dogs & tricks have always gone a little hand in hand . . . so what could the harm be of teaching your dogs to “shake” (extend the paw to the hand that is extended) or “high five” (extend the paw & hit target hand that is extended). Well, this human is a bit wiser now . . . apparently once Cinder & Mick weren’t either being rewarded in a timely fashion or having their believed efforts recognized; then those “paws” became new methods of communication. :/

Hey human! Where’s my cookie? Wanna shake? I know shake! Oh, not fond of my left paw . . . well, how about my right one? [repeat]

Hey human! I don’t care that I didn’t give you the trick / behavior that you were wanting . . . I gave you my best tricks to date! *high five* No?! How about a right high five instead? Hey human?! Where’s my cookie? [repeat]

Other than some redirecting of behaviors, both were wonderfully behaved & everyone is looking forward to the next class to see not only how the homework has gone, but to build more on the new behaviors. ❤

Toby even got to go with, but instead of getting to watch the class quietly from his travel kennel, he was relocated to the office while he was telling his tales of sadness & woes. 😦

After class you would have thought that enough energy had been spent with the commotion of going to class (Yay! Car time!) & the new smells & experiences – especially, Mr. Tobers with all of his angst . . . BUT no . . . Alas, the three of them had so much energy left, that a trail run was needed not just so that their humans could go find a log (more about that in a future post), but to help burn off said energy. Thankfully, after hitting the trails – everyone settled in for snuggles & a movie.

From our pack to yours . . . Happy Sunday Funday!

P.S. Before the trail run, Cinder initiated play with Mick & they played chase & tag for a good hour before we went to hit the trails. This is what one happy Mick looks like after all of that play!

Here are a few random pics from today that we (the humans) found comical.

Our captions are below the pics . . . what would your captions be for them? Put them in the comments! 😛

“Jack, I want you to draw me like one of your French girls . . . “

C:”Oh, did you say bed?”

M:”Not couch?”

“I am sooooo bored. Why don’t you want to go for a run?”

The Best Running Partner . . .

The best running partner is a furry one!

Both of the humans were adequately worked out today & there is now an ongoing joke that we need to find a marathon that allows dogs so that a BQ might be possible. 😉

Earlier in the day – Cinder & Mick worked on running in semi-tandem. Outside of Cinder trying to switch sides a couple of times everything went better than expected.

8 miles with an 8:10 min / mi average pace . . . in the rain. 🐾 ❤ 🐾

Meanwhile, Toby was at home pouting with his other human.

So after a long day of reporting & conference calls it was time for their other human to log a few miles.

Now there was some discussion about taking it easy . . . but then they completely killed that plan by running around like absolute crazies. So then as a pack we logged 6 miles of 1:1 intervals AND took a brief break at the dog park to run around in the dark wearing their Noxgear Lighthound vests. [Check out their video on the General Videos page.]

Now you would think that all three pups would be a little tired & winding down.

NOPE. :/

Toys. Zoomies. Bone play. *sigh*

Endurance is a PITA.

Kettle Moraine – Nordic Trail System

Today we (the humans) wanted to get out & enjoy the beautiful Wisconsin weather & get some training miles in.

Toby, Cinder, & Mick had the chance to run, work on whistle recall, & just take in the sights & sounds of the trail.

Here are some of the pics from the adventure.

If you are ever in the Southeastern Wisconsin – check out Kettle Moraine State Forest.

Nordic Trail System

NOTE: Do bring tick / mosquito protection – the ticks were out in full force.

RRRs (Run – Rest – Repeat)

Today the pups ran one of their humans at an 8:10 average for 7 miles.

  • Toby – 2 miles
  • Mick – 2.5 miles
  • Cinder – 2.5 miles

You know that they love to join in on the runs when the sight of running clothes or shoes causes pacing to & from the door, excited yipping, & tapping feet.

All of this commotion always has the same results directly after . . . nap time! Just in time for my conference calls. 🙂
